So I had this post all written, and it was supposed to be like a grateful themed thing, and it just sounded all deep, and boring and blah blah blah. And don’t get me wrong because I’m all for a bit of D&M from time to time (not to be confused with S&M), but today was clearly not that time.
Especially because what I really wanted to write was grateful, but not really deep at all.
So then of course I was struck by inspiration at the worst possible moment, because I had no time to write, so I tried to get Siri on bored, and she was about as useful as a bucket of wet fish. Which I realise after writing that, is about the craziest metaphor ever, because I have never heard it, and I suppose, for some, a bucket of wet fish would be extremely useful.
Ignoring her attempt to get me to blog ‘that link I do have stand in your testicle finger to find my window money,’ I instead set about restoring my blog theme, after the last one (which was new in case you hadn’t noticed), decided that comments weren’t cool. (And of course, we know they are.) I had a brief panic attack, as it was the second time that it had happened in a week, and I could find no source of the problem, and it forced me to return to the old theme, which liked comments, but not mobile devices which is also not cool. Eventually I poured out my frustrations to the wonderful Kelly Exeter, who after a quick check agreed that yes something was broken, and then set about hooking me up with a new, fully functional, comment and mobile loving new look. (EDITED TO ADD: Kelly didn’t actually do the blog for me, because if she did it would look far superior! She just guided me in the right direction and helped me with theme choice. 🙂 )
Just quietly, this makes me super happy.
But that wasn’t the entire source of my gratitude.
After a crazy week that began with me talking to myself, included a mascara everywhere incident that made me seriously question whether I should be allowed out in public, and ended yesterday with a spider threatening to eat me, (Well it was in the house, so that’s the logical assumption), it’s been a week of gentle, and soul fulfilling highs.
Apart from a little bit of a personal breakthrough that I am still processing and yet to blog, I also had wins on other fronts.
Such as discovering that there is a new product on the chocolate shelves.
Can I just say how excited I am about purple pants? I had bright purple baggies when I was 17 and they were the epitome of my youth. The fact that I now own exorbitantly priced (but I don’t care), Cherry coloured skinny jeans in my 30’s makes me believe that anything is possible.
Or that I can still pretend to be cool.
Same thing really.
There was also the chance during the week to make new friends, and the kind of friends that you just click with straight away. Don’t you love that? It also means that hopefully, I’ll be less inclined to hit up randoms in the supermarket.
But probably not.
But perhaps the best was that my second biggest girl got picked to attend a footy clinic with none other than six players from the Adelaide Crows, which for a footy enthused family (I’ll stop short of saying ‘mad’) is a pretty exciting honour. It’s something that we never would have got the chance to do in Darwin, and the whole family loved it.
And if for whatever you’re not quite there yet, I leave you with this.
A hug. From EssentiallyJess, the non hugger.
How’s your week been?
Do you believe it all works out in the end?
Would you wear purple pants?
How good is cheesecake?
And also a HUGE congratulations to #teamIBOT superstar alwaysJosefa for making the top 5 Personal and Parenting bloggers in the Kidspot Voices of 2014. I’m sure we all agree it’s very well deserved. xx
