I honestly can’t remember how I lived without my apples.
Not the fruit kind; the computers.
Even before getting my MacBook (which I looooove), I was dependent on my iphone and iPad. Neither are ever very far from me, and they honestly make my life so much easier.
One of the refreshing things I have found with getting the Mac, is the ease of apps. I’m familiar with searching the app store for what I want, downloading it and then deleting if it’s no good. I don’t like to spend money on them if I can, but I will if I need to.
I thought today, I would share with you three apps I am loving at the moment, and seeing as Kate is holding a fitness Friday, I thought I’d join the party.
Couch to 5K.
This is an old one, but a famous one. I actually got this last year, but gave up at about week 5, because it bored me. I don’t enjoy running on the treadmill, and I find the Darwin weather too hot to run in unless it’s raining. Even then it can still be muggy. I like exercise with the air con on, in front of my TV. 🙂
I’ve always enjoyed keeping fit, but especially since suffering PND, I’ve found that increasing my heart rate, and doing something almost every day jut helps me feel so much better. My regular routine after lunch is to put the kids to bed, put on a DVD (usually a tv series) and get on my step. It’s about 6 inches high, so it’s a decent workout.
Although I love the step, and I tend to do aerobic moves on it anyway, I needed a challenge, so recently I’ve combined my stepping with couch to 5k. I literally run up and down that thing until my phone tells me to stop.
Yesterday I completed week 7 day2, and I feel awesome!
I downloaded this last week after a conversation with Rhianna from A Parenting Life. I thought it might be a good one for Boatman and I to do together, particularly since I know he wants to increase his fitness as well.
The app has about eight different programs which focus on different target areas, and range in length from 18 minutes to 26.
We thought it would be wise to start with the Quick Cardio program.
The first night, we did 8 out of 18 minutes.
There is a three minute warm up.
We’re pretty lame.
The second night, we made it to almost 10 minutes.
Last night, I completed it. It was hard but gee it felt good to conquer it.
If you love a challenge, and you want to increase your fitness, get this app! For $2.99 it’s a bargain!
This one is not a fitness app, but after all the workouts, you need to chill and what better way to do that than by reading blogs?
What I like about Feedler, is that every time I open it, all the blogs I have subscribed to by RSS update, and I can read them at my leisure. It’s also really easy to comment on them, because when I open it, I just click the ‘open in safari’ option, and it’s all there for me. No fiddling, not tricky, and I can keep up to date with everyone.
Did I mention it’s also free? I have it on the iPad, and I think it’s available on iPhone too.
It also means you you can, of course, keep up to date with all my wonderful posts, and that has to be a good thing right? 😉
