Did you know that it’s been almost three years since #IBOT was born? Next month this little linky becomes an older toddler, almost ready for Kindy. If linky’s actually went to Kindy that is.
On that very first Tuesday, 12 people linked up to #IBOT and I was beside myself. I couldn’t believe it. I think I probably had the biggest stat day I had ever had up till that point 🙂 Anyway, I remember sitting down on that Tuesday night and reading all 12 of those posts, and it took me all night. I’m not entirely sure why, unless I read super slow then, but it did. It took me ages! And Boatman, who always believed that IBOT would be a huge community, said ‘what are you going to do if you get more than 20 linkers Jess? You can’t be reading that many blog posts in one week.”
How little he knew. 🙂
Anyway, after a little while, (I’m sure we all know the story by now), #teamIBOT was born with the idea that they would help me read all the posts that were regularly linked.
What had started out as a chance to get people reading posts on a Tuesday (a notoriously slow blogging day), evolved into a beautiful little community, and as such, needed a community to run it.
Over the course of time, the members of #teamIBOT have come and go. Some people have left blogging altogether, and others have passed on the baton to new blood so to speak. At present, there are 12 members of the team (including myself), and they are all allocated set numbers to read, but usually visit more. I myself, being a complete numbers geek, work off my little spreadsheet which I first spoke about here.
Now a really good host (which I am not at times), would have formally introduced the gorgeous, wonderful, effervescent, amazing and all around good-looking (hopefully this will help her forgive me) Emily to the team months ago. And to be honest I did.
I just did it in a newsletter that I don’t think I ever sent out….
So very very sorry Em.
But anyway, Emily has joined the team, (I’m sure you have seen her around), but sadly it’s time to farewell a few other friends. (Get your tissues ready.)
Now in the spirit of all great farewells, I am bestowing on these three people gifts to help them on their way. But in the spirit of being a blogger who makes a pittance from this online world, the gifts are in imagination and jpegs only.
But it’s the thought that counts right?
So in no particular order….
Fare thee well…
Karen joined the team at the beginning of last year, but has been blogging on Tuesday a lot longer than that. She’s been a bit quiet lately due to a brand new house with a fabulous kitchen (I’m only a little envious), but some very sketchy internet.
She has some super, secret squirrel business in the pipeline that I’m not at liberty to discuss, but suffice to say, she’ll be taking her leave of #teamIBOT to do that.
We have loved having Karen on the team, and will miss her greatly, but wish her luck for the very exciting future. And to send her on her way, she will be getting one of these fantastic prints that she wanted for mothers day, and a lifetimes supply of excellent internet connection.
Fare thee well….
You might have known her from her previous blog, ‘Saturday Morning Ogre Mum,’ but Miss Cinders has been in the blogging game for a long time. She was one of the first bloggers I ever met, and one of those on my ‘must hug list’ for DPCON last year. (The fact that I have a must-hug list is pretty impressive.)
Miss Cinders has recently opened her home to four little foster kids, in addiction to the two she already had, and her own, not-tiny-brood of 5. The woman is nothing short of amazing.
She is fare-welling us to spend her time lavishing these little ones with all the love she can give, and seeing as her heart is huge, I think they will do well.
Will miss having you around my friend, and to say goodbye I’ll be sending you this amazing mansion complete with cleaner, and also a lifetime supply of chocolate.
I think you’ll need it 🙂
Fare thee well…
I had to say goodbye to this chicky in flesh just over three months ago, and fare-welling her now is not any easier. Rhianna has been with us since the start of #teamIBOT, and has been a faithful commenter, friend and all around lovely person.
Rhianna and her family are about to head off on the #adventureofalifetime heading around Oz in a camper van for as long as it takes them. To send her off properly, she will be getting this Akubra to keep the sun off her face, and a magic genie that will provide high quality coffee wherever she is, and whenever she wants.
I’m secretly hoping she shares her magical genie if she comes and visits me here in the South.
And just because I’m handing out imaginary gifts, in the grand tradition of Oprah…. ‘you get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car! Everyone gets a car!’
Except for Emily who gets a whole fleet filled with this.
And these, just because they are so cool.
And with that, we bid Karen, Miss Cinders and Rhianna farewell. I’m more than a little emotional, as I love everything about you girls; who you are and how you have helped build this beautiful community. And I’m slightly reminded of the Garfield cartoon where Odie ended up in the pound. Not that your futures are anything like that.
But instead of turning into a blubbering mess, I choose to look at the beauty of #teamIBOT. And not just the members of the team past and present, but also all of you who link up and join in every week, spreading the love and visiting each other. In the spirit of a really dodgy after school special, I just want to say, you are what makes IBOT what it is.
