Sometimes, you get this idea, and it just sits, and simmers below the surface. You think ‘that’s a good idea. Maybe one day…..’
And then, sometimes, the idea gets bigger and bigger, until you realise, it’s not just an idea anymore; it’s inevitable. A living, breathing entity that takes on a life of its own and just forces itself to be.
So you decide to say ‘screw the risks, let’s do it!’
And then you totally rebrand your whole blog and invite everyone to the launch party, because this living, breathing thing that has taken over, just has to be shared with everyone!
So on that note…
And welcome to Essentially Jess, the blog formerly known as Diary of a SAHM!
It’s a new day here in my blogging history. A new name, new look, new URL, new Facebook page, but, most importantly SAME great content.
There’s a whole post on why everything changed, and also what’s with the duck, but you’ll have to wait till Tuesday for that one. Cause today is all about the party! We’ve got prizes, fashion advice, and, of course, what would it be without a crazy vlog?
A pretty sad party if you ask me!
Now because I am committed to not only providing you with one hell of a launch, but also good quality wisdomous advice, I hit the streets in preparation for today’s celebrations, to help you construct the perfect launch party outfit.
Seeing as I am not in the slightest bit a fashion blogger, and my help was the ridiculously good looking, but equally clueless Rhianna, we approached the shops child free and armed with google images about what one would actually wear to a party, if you had any sense of style, and were not a Darwin Bogan like us.
Unfortunately for us, it happened to be ‘National Sing At Your School Day,’ so half the schools in the NT where singing in the shopping centre. I have no idea how that works, but you get that.
I think they were just trying to steal the launch party thunder.
Rhianna did suggest we get in on the festivities and maybe jump on stage, but we had more pressing issues at hand.
One, buy a duck.
Two, find the perfect outfit for you for the party. Just in case you’re as incredibly clueless as us.
Now because I’m such a great host, welcoming you to my new home and stuff, I thought, ‘hey I want people to be comfortable here.’ Essentially Jess is all about embracing who you are, so people should wear what they want.
This is not just a launch party with no theme.
On the contrary, this is a launch party, with every theme!
Wanna dress like you’re at the races?
Office party more your style?
Reliving your youth or alternatively forgetting how old you are and pretending you’re off to a kegger?
Everyone is welcome here.
Embracing your inner 70’s Mum Style?
Even those who want to dress like they are an extra in a red remake of the Labrynth.
Cause let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to be in that movie?
Of course there is plenty of room for the Darwin Bogan too (Sorry Rhi ;))
And don’t forget the duck.
In fact, however you wanna be is cool with me, just do long as you have your party hat, and you don’t throw the cushions.
That’s never cool people.
But enough of that, who wants some prizes?
To prove that they are totally in the party spirit (hat or not), our wonderful launch party sponsors have come on board with some top notch pressies for you all!
In no particular order….
Mindscape is giving away a fantastic Christmas Craft Printable pack for you and the kids to get ready for the coming holiday season, valued at $25. An excellent sanity saver in time for the silliness.
The Smile Collective, has this gorgeous Mums Manifesto print, which retails at $35 for one lucky reader.
Stuck On You has come to the party with not one, but two $20 gift vouchers for their store! I’ve checked out their new Christmas range and they have some top stuff in store that would make great pressies for anyone!
And because no party is perfect without a cake, the Baker Girls at Cake 2 the Rescue, are giving someone one of their gorgeous cake packs as well! I got one of these the other day, and it is awesome!
As a personal Thankyou, I’m also offering two bloggers with less than a year under their belt, a mentorship with Essentially Jess. The details ate yet to be finalized, but the basic idea is that you’ll have me at your more or less beck and call, to try and help build your blog into the best thing it can be. I’m just looking at this as a great oportunity to make new friends!
And as a final present to everyone, you get this.
A video clip with today’s launch party theme song, and a ridiculous display of me unable to get the zipper up on any party dress, regardless of what size I tried on.
So watch the clip, enter the Giveaway, update your readers, sign up on Facebook, then snap a pic on IG and add the hashtag #EssentiallyJessLaunchParty
Let’s get this party started!
