And whiskers on kittens
Blue bells and sleigh bells
And something with mittens
La la la la la la something with string
These are a few of my favourite things
(Phoebe, The Pilot episode of Friends.)
Today I’m thankful for….
For baby speak. For babbling and cooing and giggles at her own ‘jokes.’
For ‘answering’ me when I speak to her.
For open mouth kisses.
For teeny tiny toes, and great self importance.
And although the little rabbit absolutely refuses to say mum, when she stands at my feet, puts her arms up and says ‘duddle’ it’s an absolute heart melt.
For his love of nature and all animals. (As I write he is watching Nemo with the cat asleep on his lap.)
For fishing games; casting out in the pool and playing ‘catching fishy’s.’
For little boy cuddles. Little girl cuddles are awesome, but all the mums of boys will tell you you there’s nothing quite like little boy cuddles. Squeezy cuddles with arms around my neck, that threaten to never let go.
For having a boy. ‘Can you be my boy forever?’ I ask him.
‘Yes, but you have to share me with daddy.’
For strength and determination despite the fact that she goes in for surgery (again) tomorrow.
For a girly girl. Who will quite happily refuse a fishing trip with daddy and the others in favour of girl time (AKA shopping) with mummy.
For tears at drop off time at school, because she would rather stay home with mum.
For long winded stories that never, ever, ever end.
For her sensitivity and openness.
For the way she tells me what she is feeling, and doesn’t hide herself from me.
For the way she knows, and practices, that right is right, even when no one is doing it. And wrong is wrong, even when everyone else is doing it.
For quirkiness that could possibly rival my own.
