Today is the day people!
Today is THE day!
The day when I spend a huge amount of money completely guilt free.
The day when all my hard work finally leaves my hands and becomes something awesome.
The day when my child hood dreams LITERALLY come true.
Today is the day my book goes to print.
After months and months of reading, re-reading, reading aloud and giving to friends to read. Of editing and making a hundred and one changes and then changing things back again. After looking at fonts till my eyes were blurry, trying to discover which way made my name look best, all the decision have been made, and the files are heading off to the printer to be packaged and bound into my very first book.
Which will look something like this:
And have some illustrations like these:
My book designer has been hard at work making everything look pretty and perfect and honestly, I never imagined it would look as great as it does. To say I’m excited would be the understatement of the century.
Now for those of you wondering what on earth the whole thing is about, in a nutshell it is a humorous approach to Christian Parenting. (And yes, that is a thing ;)) It’s very heavy on the God content, so it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and I’m ok with that. I’m passionate about parenting, and also passionate about what I believe and being able to write about the both of them together is too awesome for words.
For a little while, I’ve been a little frustrated by it. The whole reading and re-reading thing tends to take the magic out of it all, and honestly, I have spent quite a good portion of time thinking ‘what’s the point? Really who wants to read this? And it’s all complete crap anyway!”
Not the best attitude to have when you need to start plugging yourself to everyone 😉
Thankfully last week the tide changed on my melancholic whinge, and as I did the final run through I began to have a little bit of faith again. Not just in me, but in God too, who is the one I’ve written it for after all.
I think I do have something to say. I think I can be an en encouragement and failing that, I think I’m good just to laugh or roll your eyes at.
And I’m also ok with saying that 🙂
